This is a free and incredible opportunity for artists to learn from other artists about the business side of your practice...marketing/fundraising/public relations/strategic planning. You spend so much time on your artistic practice - you deserve and need to make the most of it with more effective business practices. Learn simple and practical tools from other national artists without compromising your art or your principles!!


This retreat is free for those chosen - and is geared toward "generative" artists - those artists (from music, theatre, dance, film/video and visual fields) who are creating and presenting new work. To a person, they thought the experience was remarkable - transformational for many.

Karen McCarthy, our former Congresswoman from Kansas City, has generously funded this initiative. She has long been interested in the arts and artists and wants to help our community of artists here in KC. Charlotte Street Foundation and the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City are the two local partners responsible for creating and implementing this opportunity for KC artists.
