KCArtistLink

KCArtistLink is a program of the Charlotte Street Foundation, the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City, the UMKC Small Business Technology & Development Center, and U.S.SourceLink.

KCArtistLink connects Kansas City artists of all disciplines to the resources and opportunities that will help them promote their work and strengthen their artistic practice.

We do that through:

  • KCArtistLink: an artist-friendly directory that links artists to local and national career, financial, and legal resources.
  • Resource Navigator: our interactive search tool that gives artists a customized list of the resources they need to shape their careers and grow their businesses.
  • Network Navigators: verifiable humans who artists can call and who are familiar with their needs and the services available to them.
  • Artist, INC: a series of seminars that focus on professional development and entrepreneurial training for 25 emerging and mid-career artists at a time.
  • Your Stories: Help other artists strengthen their practice and shape their careers by telling the story of yours.

KCArtistLink and Artist, INC. are made possible through a $100,000 grant from Leveraging Investments in Creativity (LINC), the innovative collaboration of Kansas City’s arts organizations, and generous support from the Kansas City creative community and arts supporters, including Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation, Francis Family Foundation, Steve and Karen Pack Family Foundation, American Century Investments, Bank of America, Hallmark Cards and the Missouri Arts Council.

LINC is a ten-year national initiative to improve conditions for artists by providing knowledge, information and financial resources to organizations in 15 communities across the country. The Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City, in partnership with Charlotte Street Foundation, is the lead Kansas City participant in the Creative Communities program of Leveraging Investments in Creativity, funded by the Ford Foundation.

The initiative in Kansas City began in the spring of 2007, led by Charlotte Street Foundation and the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City. In 2008, this partnership was joined by KCSourceLink and the UMKC Small Business and Technology Development Center. The initiative now receives strategic support and guidance from the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance, the Kansas City Art Institute and University of Missouri Extension, and numerous local area artists have been involved in the community planning process.
