Studios – Performing
Charlotte Street added studio space for performing artists to its Studio Residency Program in 2009. The program provides free studio space with 24-hour access to promising, dedicated artists in need of rehearsal space among a community of peer artists. Located on the 5th Floor at City Center Square, 12th and Main, the space for performing artists is a large rehearsal space (approx 3,000 sq. feet) that includes a low platform stage with Marley floor for choreographers/dancers. Performing artists accepted in the program are granted regular hours each week for exclusive use of the space. Open Studios are hosted on select dates, during which performing residents often present live performance of new work and works in progress.
Artists/groups of artists working in the realm of performance (music, dance, theater, spoken word, performance art, etc…) are encouraged to apply. Artists are considered for one year studio residency terms, with the possibility to reapply for a second term. Applications are considered by a curatorial panel through a competitive process.
